A CYCLING HOLIDAY IN THE DOLOMITES

Full speed ahead!

The Dolomite region and Prags in particular are wonderful for excursions by bike. There is a great network of cycle paths, which you can join directly in front of our hotel. You can also ride up the mountain road and see the Dolomites up close. We also have a rental shop for electric bicycles in our hotel.

Peiswurm, Hebbedachsl, Hei-Hupfa ...

GET PEDALLING!

These mountain bike trail names sound funny, don’t they? “Peiswurm” is a traditional word from the local dialect and means “biting worm”, or snake, while “Heihupfa” means grasshopper. People in the Puster valley are not lacking in creativity and humor, just as the area doesn’t lack challenging trails with steep sections adorned with natural elements such as rocks, roots and tight turns.

THERE SEEM TO BE A MILLION BIKE PATHS

To west, north, south and east

You can cycle in every direction from your base at our hotel. There is nothing to slow you down, except the surroundings, which you are sure to want to photograph from time to time. The Pusterbike trail starts right next to the old Grand Hotel in Toblach/Dobbiaco. It leads to Bruneck/Brunico heading almost always in a straight line via Niederdorf, Welsberg, Olang and Percha past fields and meadows and Olang reservoir. From Olang there is a cycle route to Antholz/Anterselva valley, while from Bruneck you can cycle to the Ahrntal and Sand in Taufers. For those who find this route is too short, there is always the path along the river Rienz through the villages of St. Lorenzen, Ehrenburg/Kiens, Vintl and Mühlbach and then onwards to Schabs and via Aicha to Franzensfeste/Fortezza. There again you can access two more cycle paths: one leading north to Sterzing/Vipiteno and Brenner, and the other branching off to Bozen/Bolzano. And when it’s time to come home you can let the train take the strain. You’ll only have to cycle the distance from the station to the hotel again. PS: For the super-sporty the route to Cortina is a real challenge.
