PRAGSER WILDSEE LAKE

Perfect blue

When the sun shines hot and the grass on the lush green meadows has grown tall, magic is in the air. During the day, the warm rays of the sun seem to have no end and the water of the Pragser Wildsee lake sparkles. At night, our sky is clear, and you can see the stars. Prags valley is a pearl, and so are the Dolomites. Their colors and forms never fail to impress. One thing you can be sure of is that once you have visited this lake, you will want to return. Finally, romantics will be rendered speechless on a boat trip across the lake by the incomparably blue water.

If you love water, then don’t miss out on a visit to the Kneipp facility in Taisten near Niederdorf. The cold water invigorates the body, and you can warm up your feet again on the barefoot path next to it.

A green jewel

Expansive green meadows with flowers in all different colors form a remarkable contrast to the wild mountain peaks high above them. The strong roots of the pines grow down over the rocks and anchor themselves in the ground. Their shapes are reminiscent of dancers. You’ll experience moments of wonder on a hike through the Fanes Sennes Prags nature park, at Lake Toblach and Lake Dürrensee in the Höhlensteintal valley as well as in the Gsies valley with its traditional farms. And don’t forget, at least one hike to the Plätzwiese alpine plateau is a must during your holiday!

Another highlight is the Messner Mountain Museum Corones on top of the Kronplatz/Plan de Corones. It explores the history of mountaineering and the conquest of the mountains. Right next door, another impressive museum, Lumen, houses some of the best mountain photography that the world has to offer. These architectural works of art sit harmoniously in the landscape and offer panoramic views of large parts of South Tyrol.

THE DREI ZINNEN (THREE PEAKS)

Gentle giants, white and wise

The Drei Zinnen are world famous, and with good reason. With their rocks in fifty shades of grey, towering over green meadows and set against bright blue skies they look impressive in pictures, but let’s be honest: just looking at them in photographs does not do them justice. At least once in your life you need to have seen them from up close or even stood on them. Their crags are also fantastic for climbing. Other famous peaks in the immediate vicinity are the Peitlerkofel, the Helm in Innichen/San Candido and Staller Sattel in the Antholz valley. There are plenty of experienced mountain guides in Prags who will be pleased to offer their assistance. Toni Stocker and Michaela Egarter, the first female mountain guide in South Tyrol, are regular visitors to our hotel. There are many splendid summits to choose from in our region.

“Mountains teach us
how little it takes
to be happy.”

Wise words from Toni
